When at first you don't succeed

My husband was recently made redundant and has spent a lot of his time since then breaking what ain't broke fixing stuff around the house. One of his projects was painting the rooms downstairs. He did a LOT of work! Once he was done he had a bit of paint left over and thought it was pretty similar to what we have in the hallway. He figured he'd dab a bit on a wall to see if there was a match. Now, I know what you're thinking. If this were you, what would you do? You'd dab a bit in an unseen corner. Maybe behind a piece of furniture? Somewhere that you know, if it goes wrong, is not going to be noticable. This is what greeted me the next day.

Now you don't have a lot of other things in the picture to give you perspective but I can tell you, a dab that is not! But he didn't stop there. I really don't know what his thought process was but I guess he was wondering if it might be a match further down the wall?

Yes that's right, again, not a dab, just a big swish, swish, swish, "let's see if it's a match here!" Ever the optimist. And I think this picture gives you a lot more perspective on how big those swish swishes are... You might be thinking "oh well, it's probably not in a prominant part of the house right? Nobody is really going to see it?" Wrong It's right by our front door.

This ensures that everyone visitor to our place see this wonderful artwork. Speaking of, when talking about how he could potentially fix it, he stated eagerly "I could just put a frame around it and make it like I meant to do it?" No, just, no. This happened about five months ago and it's still there. Just like that. A reminder. Every day. Not frustrated at all really.
