Violence is acceptable now is it?

I'm going to get on the Will Smith/Chris Rock bandwagon because this subject has been infuriating me all day.

There are so many things wrong with what happened between them at the Oscars.

If you managed to escape the drama, here is a link to it.

At this time, I don't know whether Chris Rock already knew about Jada's alopecia condition. Either way, it probably wasn't the best joke. But if every comedian who told a bad joke got slapped, there'd be a lot of slapping going on.

How did this joke get past all the writers anyway? Aren't there checks for this sort of thing?

IN ANY CASE, even if it is judged that Chris Rock said the wrong thing, the answer is NOT for someone else to come up, smack him in the mouth in front of an audience, then get yelled at by a crazed lunatic madman from the crowd.

You know what that was? That was violence!

Will Smith could have made a statement later and we would have all said "Yes, Chris Rock is now cancelled"

OR

Will Smith could have done his stage rush and instead of using his hands, could have said "My wife has alopacia you ignoramus"

And we could have all been a little more informed about people with alopecia. Instead, we're now informed about how much of a lunatic Will Smith is.

To see him march up there, give Chris a huge whack, then walk back to his seat with that smug look on his face just made me sick

Chris Rock tries to recover. People are laughing nervously in their seats thinking "is this a set up?"

I mean we all know the Oscars haven't been incredibly exciting lately.

But then the yelling starts "Keep my wife's name out your fucking mouth" Will Smith bellows with the look of murder in his eyes. Not just once by the way - he repeats it. Just in case you didn't hear it the first time. With perfect actor enunciation.

You see kiddies, that's how the grownups do it. If someone says something that offends you or someone you love, even if it's a bad joke, you can go up and smack them in the mouth. Then it's fixed. Then you've taught that person a lesson. Then everyone will look at you and say yeah, there's a hero. I'll follow his example.

And if that wasn't bad enough, there is footage of that low life Will Smith dancing around with the Oscar he won moments later at an after party.

Yes, he's still a big idol in his own eyes and he can continue to do whatever he likes because, well because he's Will Smith - or was that Muhammad Ali? Or maybe Serena and Venus' dad?

Oh and did you see his speech when he "apologised"? There were a lot of fake tears, he is an actor after all, but I didn't hear any apologies to Chris Rock.

We all know that apology happened later but he had a reputation to save and I guess he'd had time to reflect on it. I don't for a second think he was sincere.

If Will hadn't had his ego bruised, we would all be talking about the bad taste joke Chris Rock made and maybe we'd be learning how to do it better moving forward but instead, we're hating on you Will Smith. So, good move. You made it about you.

I for one will not be watching any more Will Smith movies.
