Turning Margonese, I really think so - Day Thirteen

It's day thirteen and we still haven't gone to Shakey's pizza. First time in Japan and no Shakey's. I think that's a good thing but there's still time.

We packed a lot in today! We went to Yokahama. Wow the train stations are something else here. They're complex and simple at the same time. If you know what you're doing, they're simple. The trains always run on time - show up when they're supposed to. We're at Ikebukuro station and there's a million train lines that come through here. It took us a while to find the line we wanted and yes, we had to ask in the end but we got there.

What roads they have here in Yokohama!!! Everything looks gigantic.

Here are some facts I found out about Yokohama today:

We've read in a few places that Yokohama is the second-largest city in Japan by population and the most populous municipality of Japan. I still find that hard to believe but I've read it in a few articles.

It lies on Tokyo Bay, south of Tokyo, in the Kantō region of the main island of Honshu.

Yokohama developed rapidly as Japan's prominent port city following the end of Japan's relative isolation in the mid-19th century and is today one of its major ports along with Kobe, Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka, Tokyo and Chiba.

The city is headquarters to companies such as Isuzu, Nissan, JVCKenwood, Keikyu, Koei Tecmo, Sotetsu, Salesforce Japan and Bank of Yokohama.

Yokohama itself means "horizontal beach". The current area surrounded by Maita Park, the Ōoka River and the Nakamura River have been a gulf divided by a sandbar from the open sea. This sandbar was the original Yokohama fishing village. Since the sandbar protruded perpendicularly from the land, or horizontally when viewed from the sea, it was called a "horizontal beach". We went for a walk taking it all in before going to Nissan headquarters. Here's a few pics from there. It's a very impressive place!

We walked towards Rinko Park. It was so nice out today!!

Then look what we saw in the distance!!!!

I know Deno was dying to "draw his own picture" again but they didn't take cards and we didn't have cash on us so we didn't make our own noodles this time.

The famous Ferris wheel.

And we got two beef bowls for lunch. Yummy!! But they look a bit like...

We saw cable cars going between buildings and I don't remember them being there last time but maybe they were. Deno suggested going on it but I gave it a hard pass!

Next stop was Chinatown! We have been watching so many you tube clips saying this is one of the best Chinatowns around.

We've been there before but paid extra special attention to the suggested foods this time.

I love these sesame things!!! Think there was some red bean type thing inside there but the outer part tasted like a donut.

Fruit is quite expensive here but lots of girls especially were eating these strawberry things.

Not sure if they're candy or the real fruit.

I think they were the real fruit with a ton of sugar syrup on them.

We spent a long time going up and down the streets. Then we were stopped by some you tuber who wanted to interview us. He wanted to talk to us about our opinions on Japanese and Chinese food.

We chatted for about five minutes I think? Maybe a bit more but during it, I got so flustered and sweaty!!

Oh god I hope that doesn't show up in the clip. If it's presentable, I'll share it at some point. He said it would be up in 7-10 days.

A few more pics as we strolled around.

We have wanted to go to the "Alice in an old Castle" restaurant/cafe ever since our first trip to Japan. It just hasn't been opened at the times we've gone past! Today we were in the area twenty minutes before it opened so we GOT TO GO!!!!!!!!!! And it was just the best time! The waitress was so cute! the lines she says are all related to Alice in Wonderland. It was just the best experience!

The drinks were themed and she gave an explanation and instruction with each one but I can't remember what she said. Only that it was fun!

It was hard to take pics in there because it was quite dark, but they brought out some sort of corn soup in the tiny cups. The crackers had card shapes cut out of them. I just couldn't photograph it properly.

And look at this fabulous dessert!!!

Honestly this place is a high recommend from me. The food was great, the atmosphere was great and the staff really add to the whole experience. It was so much fun! Hope you enjoyed looking at the photos I've shared today. We had a great day. For now, OYASUMINASAI
