Turning Margonese, I really think so - Day Ten

We survived the night! In fact it wasn't so bad at all. No noise from outside. All good. I kind of miss the self flushing toilet from the last place though.

We were walking through the Nitori store (Japan's IKEA) to look for pillow cases or perhaps even new pillows, and saw a woman checking out a pillow. She pushed it down with her hands to check the softness, then, bent over at the waist and lay her head down on it! I mean it looked funny but was probably a smart thing to do! Reminds me of the time we saw a man having a shave with a demonstration shaver in the Don Quixote store. Went out for a konbini (コンビニ) haul this morning. The supermarkets were still closed but there's konbini every 20 steps so didn't really matter. Also, the area looked pretty tame so I think I was over reacting yesterday. It's fine. Early Sunday morning and lots of people already moving about.

Deno was drawn like a magnet to his favourite breakfast place.

Believe me, I'm trying to make him eat local.

We got a Tokyo metro pass and off we went on our favourite train line, the Yamanote line. First stop was Nippori to reminisce and re experience one of our favourite walks. The walk goes through Yanaka cemetery. There's lots of people who walk through here and shrines to look at also. Sakura, or cherry blossoms, cover the paths in April and it's really a very stunning walk. We're not in Sakura season now but it was still nice to walk through on our way to Euno park.

It's hard to see from this picture but this is a marker in Euno park showing you where different things are, and how far they are from where you are standing.

Although there were so many people, it was still so nice to be outside with nature. Beautiful paths to walk along to just take in the greenery and the sun. The Ueno Zoo is also located here. There was something happening in the park today. I'm not sure quite what, but as we passed through we saw this boy band singing and dancing. They weren't the only ones, there were different groups all day.

I think he's looking for golden arches

There's no caption with this photo.

I just wanted to show it because, isn't my husband handsome? Although I have to say, no one can argue like us. We argue even when we agree about the subject we're talking about.

True Story

We're in Euno.

These kinds of buildings are everywhere but I still find it fascinating to see.

You just wouldn't believe how the roads snake about.

Nothing is parallel.

We spent some time going through and seeing all the little markets on the streets. Streets and streets of shops and food. So much to see!

See this thing??? WHAT IS IT?? Is it a hedgehog? Sonic??? A woman with about three dogs was kind of walking with it in the park. I also got some video (Below)of it - if you listen closely enough, you can hear me say 大丈夫 or Daijōbu when a woman's son comes to stand in front of me. Japanese speaker. Also, watch to the end and you see the woman who was walking it pick it up by the back. That's what she was doing the whole time... picking it up. leaving it for a bit, then picking it up again. Felt wrong.

Check out this clip of some women playing a xylophone type thing in the park

We stopped at some place for something to eat. These looked and smelt delicious!

And these photos below come under things we DID NOT eat

Fish on a stick? Crab legs? Chicken feet!! Argh!

Not sure what festival is happening right now but lots of streets around our place are blocked and all kinds of musical things are happening. We could hear drumming from our balcony but couldn't see anything happening. You can see some people dressed in the street for whatever is going on.

Tonight we went to Shinjuku. We wanted to go to the Metropolitan Building to get pictures of Tokyo at night. You can go almost all the way there along this walkway from the train station

Great for when the weather is bad!

And then there it was!

There was a little line but very well organised as a lot of Japanese things are. We took pictures up the top. Beautiful views!!! During the day we have seen Mt Fuji from here.

There was also a piano up on the observatory level!

The sign did seem to say anyone could play but I wasn't 100% sure.

Next we walked through the streets of Shinjuku, looking at the tall building and bright lights, but also keeping an eye out for Master's street or even the Midnight Diner itself.

We need to go back to this area though because I was way too tired to enjoy it tonight.

Hope you liked the pictures and video's today. It was a fun day for us!
