It's Taylor Made!

This morning hubby asked me if I wanted to go for a drive to our beautiful Clare Valley region and he'd barely uttered the sentence when I was saying yes and getting my things to go out the door!!

South Australia has world renowned wine regions and while I prefer to go with someone who actually drinks wine (hubby is a bourbon man) I couldn't knock back this opportunity.

The Clare Valley is about 150 kilometres so we packed a few snacks and a drinks.

We had just hit the Clare Valley region when we saw a sign for Taylors Wines.

Taylors wines are one of my favourite wines!! And I was doubly excited when hubby turned into the road that was going to take us to the Wine Cellar door.

If I had told him I wanted to go there, there's a good chance he would have driven past it.

Still overcome and not sure what was happening, we actually went inside.

Hubby was hoping for a coffee but I said "I don't think this is that kind of place"

When we walked in, I was probably flushed with excitment. The woman who greeted us asked if we were there for a wine tasting. I looked around and thought "well, what else can we do here?"

So "yes" I replied, "I'd love to taste some wine"

I'm not sure where hubby went, or maybe he was there and I just didn't notice him. Wine was on my mind.

The woman asked what I normally drink and I said I'm partial to a good Cabernet Sauvignon. She asked me if I had tried any of Taylors Wines before and I saw a lot of their range on shelves before her.

Keep in mind that I'm still feeling overcome at this point and I just started pointing at wines. "I normally get that one with that kind of label. That's my everyday drinking one. And I've had that one too. With that label. Jarmers? and I'm pretty sure I've had that one and a couple others too that I don't see here"

I just rambled this off like a loony. It's not even Jarmers. I mean I don't look THAT closely at the label. It's Jaraman.

In the end I tried a few and fell in love with the Taylor Made one and bought a couple. Hubby said he wasn't going to take me to any more Winery's if I am going to buy at each one I go to. So that was it for the day and obviously, next time I'm going alone!

We went to get something to eat after that in a town called Sevenhill. Hubby drove for about ten minutes trying to find a park worthy of his car. Not that it was especially busy, he's just particular.

While we were eating our delicious snacks outside, a guy came out trying to balance about four plates for his table. At first I thought it was one of the servers. As he came out the doors, all but one of the plates tipped and the food hit the ground.

Do you know how hard it is to not burst out laughing when that happens in front of you. Well, equal parts laugh/horror. I mean, you know, it's food! What a waste!

It wasn't a server though, it was one of the people from the party at that table and without missing a beat, he put the undropped plate on table, picked up what had fallen, gave it a bit of a dust off and hey presto, it's like nothing happened.

I'd forgotten how much I love driving through the countryside! Hopefully it won't be too long before hubby and I do it again.
