All I want for my birthday is...

The earth keeps doing that thing it does - you know - travelling around the sun, round and round it goes, aging us all.
And as it so happens, I had another birthday.
There's lots of wonderful things about my hubby but one of them is, he sure does know how to make me feel like a princess on my birthday.
He wants to spoil me so he asks me what I want. Jewellery? Some new electronic thing? Clothes? Shoes?
I figure, I can get all those things any time I want, so no, I didn't pick any of those.
What I can't always get, is to have him take me to my favourite Mexican restaurant!
Reason being, well how should I put this, he's not the biggest fan of this restaurant. He loves Mexican food, just doesn't love THIS place.
But I do. Although it may be tacky with questionable cleanliness, I still love it.
I was excited about it all day!

Finally we were on our way. Look at hubby. He's over the moon.
I even love the colours! It just reminds me of good food, good music AND most importantly, was the first restaurant that hubby and I loved together. Yes, back in the day, he loved coming here too. So maybe that's why I love it so much.

The first time I went to this particular franchise was when hubby and I took our first trip to Queensland. We only had a short time for lunch and this restaurant franchise was nearby so we went. The next few times we were in Queensland it was our go to lunch place.

It may seem like no one is here but shortly after I took that pic, three or four tables were filled. It's true. Really.
I put my phone down on the table after taking the picture but soon found I couldn't leave it there because it was sticky. We couldn't rest our arms on it either. It's not the first time we've had a sticky table here. God knows what happens on it, but you know what, it didn't matter.

We started with Sangria. I first learnt about Sangria from this franchise! It's not the best in the world but it doesn't matter. It's not presented in the best possible way but it doesn't matter.
Nothing else matters but that I'm here for my birthday!

I had a craving for nachos so we started with those!
And they were DELICIOUS!!! Hubby claimed them! I'm glad he found something he could like.

If we've gone to this franchise 1000 times, I've ordered the chili verde 999 times. One time I ordered a chicken dish. It was a mistake. I don't even like chicken so why did I do it? I regretted it the minute it came to the table.

What I love about the chili
verde is the chunks of beef that have mostly been perfect every time. I love the way the rice is done too! I can't seem to get it that way at home and would love to know what rice they use and how they cook it.

Hubby has usually gone for the enchilladas but today opted for some soft shell chorizo taco's. He said they were really good too. Taco's just seem too messy for me to eat so I usually don't.
We don't normally eat dessert here and I didn't really want a birthday cake - wasted calories. I was even thinking we could just get some sundae's from a McDonalds drive through. Yes I'm all class.

But then hubby suggested a cake franchise and I know they sell by the piece so we could get a couple and share?
We decided to buy the pieces and have them at home, in comfort, on our balcony
After that we cuddled on the couch watching the latest episode of Dexter. Another thing that unites us!
When the show ended I turned to hubby and lovingly said "You've made this such a perfect day. You should spoil me like that every day"
I didn't wait for him to reply, just kissed him and went to bed.
I'm sure he's thinking about it. See what happens tomorrow.

Happy birthday!
